Your questions

What you ask most often

We have gathered answers to the questions that come up most often in connection with praying for priests in our Mission.

01

Can I pray for a priest of my own choosing?

Yes, you may pray for a priest of your own choosing; we only ask that you give us this information, together with the priest's first name and surname, his diocese and the date of his ordination (if you know it), in the „remarks” field of the form.

02

Can I pray for more than one priest?

Yes, though we ask you to weigh this in prayer and to decide responsibly, so that it does not become „rattling off” prayers, but a real support for every priest you take on.

03

If I pray for several priests, should I say the prayer to the Holy Spirit separately for each of them?

No, there is no need. At each invocation of the Holy Spirit simply name the priests you are praying for.

04

If I forget to pray one day, is that a sin?

No. Forgetting once is not a sin. This prayer is a voluntary commitment, taken up out of love and not under pain of sin. If you forget, simply take it up again the next day.

05

Does the priest know who is praying for him?

No, we do not disclose the details of those who pray. The commemorative picture given to the priest carries no information about who has taken up the prayer — only that someone is praying for him.

The person praying ceases to be anonymous only when they hand the priest the envelope with the commemorative picture in person, since in this way they themselves reveal that they have taken up this commitment.

If someone wishes to remain entirely anonymous, the Mission sends the envelope with the commemorative picture directly to the priest.

06

What if the priest I pray for dies — should I go on praying for him?

If the priest dies, you may go on praying for him as for one who has died, and if you wish, you may take up prayer for another priest. Prayer for the dead is a beautiful expression of love and remembrance.
