Privacy policy

General information

This Privacy Policy sets out the rules for storing and accessing data on the devices of Users using the Service for the purpose of providing services by electronic means, as well as the rules for collecting and processing the personal data that Users have provided personally and voluntarily through the tools available in the Service.

The controller of personal data collected through the website bmwk.pl is the Congregation of the Sisters of the Bethany Family, registered office: ul. Jana Pawła II 11, 20-535 Lublin, Poland (hereinafter: the Controller).

Concerned for the security of the personal data entrusted to it, the Controller acts on the basis of internal procedures and guidelines consistent with the relevant legislation on the protection of personal data, in particular Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 (GDPR) and the decree of the Polish Bishops' Conference of 13 March 2018 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data.

The Service obtains information about Users in two ways: through data entered voluntarily in forms, and through cookies.

Data provided in forms

Data provided in the forms is collected and processed in order to handle a particular request and to contact the person who submitted it. The scope of the data depends on the form:

Contact — name, e-mail address, the content of the message and an optional attachment.
Joining the prayer for a priest or a seminarian — name, postal address, e-mail address and telephone number, because BMWK materials are sent by post to those who join.
Requesting a Holy Mass — name, e-mail address, telephone number, the wording of the intention and an optional confirmation of the offering.
Testimony — signature, e-mail address and the content of the testimony together with any attached photograph or film.
Pilgrimage registration — name or the name of a group, e-mail address, telephone number, town and province, number of people and information about transport.

Personal data left in the Service is neither sold nor shared with third parties. The person who provided it has the right to access, correct and delete it at any time.

With every form we record the exact wording of the consent shown to the person at the moment of sending, together with the date on which it was given.

Subscribing to the newsletter requires a first name and an e-mail address. It happens in two steps: after the form is submitted we send a message containing a confirmation link, and the address joins the list only once that link is clicked. Until then the address remains inactive.

The basis for processing is consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). Consent may be withdrawn at any time by clicking the link in the footer of any message — unsubscribing takes a single click, with no login and no need to contact the Mission. Addresses from which messages bounce are marked automatically and excluded from further sending.

The prayer intention board

Intentions sent through the form are published on the website together with the first name given — this is covered by the consent expressed when the intention is sent. We publish only the text of the intention and the first name; the e-mail address remains known only to the Mission and never appears on the website.

Every intention is reviewed by the sisters before publication. Please be careful about including other people's details in the text of an intention — if it concerns a particular priest, a first name is enough.

Adopting an intention

A person who adopts an intention from the board into their own prayer may give an e-mail address, but does not have to. The address serves only to send a reminder that the chosen period is coming to an end and is not used for any other purpose. Without an address, no personal data is collected at all.

Attachments sent through forms

Files attached to submissions (confirmations of an offering, photographs and films accompanying testimonies, attachments to messages) go to a part of the Service that is not publicly accessible and are visible only to the sisters handling the submissions. Photographs and films attached to testimonies appear on the website only after the testimony has been approved for publication.

Cookies

Cookies are computer data, in particular text files, stored on the User's end device and intended for the use of the Service's web pages. Cookies usually contain the name of the website they come from, how long they are to be stored on the end device, and a unique number.

Cookies are used in order to:

adapt the content of the Service's pages to the User's preferences and optimise the use of those pages, in particular to recognise the User's device and display the page appropriately;
remember the choice of language and the decision taken in the cookie consent notice;
create statistics that help us understand how Users use the pages, which makes it possible to improve their structure and content.

Two basic types of cookies are used in the Service: session cookies and persistent cookies. Session cookies are temporary files stored on the User's end device until the website is left or the browser is closed. Persistent cookies are stored for the time set in their parameters or until the User deletes them.

Web browsing software usually permits the storage of cookies on the User's end device by default. Users may change these settings — a browser makes it possible to delete cookies and to block them automatically. Information on changing these settings can be found in the "Help" section of the browser menu. Restricting the use of cookies may affect some of the functionality available in the Service.

Films embedded in the Service load only after the User clicks them. Until that moment no connection is made to YouTube and none of that service's cookies are stored. The map behaves in the same way: it connects to Google's servers only once the User opens it.

Rights of data subjects

Providing data is voluntary. Everyone has the right to access their personal data, to rectify it, to have it erased, to restrict its processing, as well as the right to object and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

Final provisions

We reserve the right to change the Privacy Policy of the Service, which may be affected by the development of internet technology, possible changes in the law on the protection of personal data, and the development of our website.
